After many tests performed with the project's testbed by sending and receiving messages in the traditional ground-level LoRa/LoRaWAN communication, the first messages sent to space were successfully received by a LoRa/LoRaWAN gateway mounted in an LEO satellite. The messages sent had to travel about 500 km at the right moment at which the satellite was in visibility I.E. up on the sky orbiting over the device.
The message received by the satellite was then forwarded to a ground station who delivered to the LoRa Network Server TTN.
The achievement was done by using the hardware provided by Lacuna Space, which is also the owner of the satellite, as part of the participation in Lacuna Space's early-adopter program.
